Hi, I’m Aimee. Welcome to my Kitchen!
Originally from Yorkshire, England, I now live in the mountains of Colorado with my husband.
Whether it’s making familiar favorites or creating new recipes, I love baking and sharing homemade food around my table with the people I love.
Baking Has Been Part of My Story for a While
This is me at two years old, making scones in Yorkshire. Baking was simply part of home life growing up, especially in my mother’s and grandma’s kitchens.
I certainly wasn’t thinking about American flour or high-altitude baking back then! But many of the recipes I’m working to recreate today are rooted in those same memories.

Why I Started The Mountain Cottage Kitchen
Moving a British recipe into an American kitchen, especially at high-altitude, involves a lot of translation. Ingredients are different. Measurements need converting. Recipes that had never failed me before became frustrating.
So, I began adapting the recipes I missed, testing them in my own kitchen and writing down what worked. My goal is simple: recipes that feel familiar, make sense in an American kitchen, and actually work at altitude.
That’s also why I created my Kitchen Guides — to make those adjustments, substitutions and techniques easier to navigate.
Recipes Made to Work at High Altitude
I develop and test my high-altitude recipes in Woodland Park, Colorado, at around 8,600 feet above sea level.
Rather than applying the same set of adjustments to every recipe, I test each one until the rise, texture and flavor feel right. I also use American ingredients, while keeping the character of the British recipes I grew up with.
Come into the Kitchen
Whether you’re a Brit living abroad, a high-altitude baker, or simply love British baking, I hope you find a recipe that becomes part of your own kitchen.
